DAY AND NIGHT

Carl Gustav Jung-The creation of something new is not accomplished by the intellect but by the play instinct acting from inner necessity. The creative mind plays with the objects it loves.
Often the hands will solve a mystery that the intellect has struggled with in vain.
It all depends on how we look at things, and not how they are in themselves.
Follow that will and that way which experience confirms to be your own.
All the works of man have their origin in creative fantasy. What right have we then to depreciate imagination.

"How else could it have occurred to man to divide the cosmos, on the analogy of day and night, summer and winter, into a bright day-world and a dark night-world peopled with fabulous monsters, unless he had the prototype of such a division in himself, in the polarity between the conscious and the invisible and unknowable unconscious?"

And here is my work called DAY AND NIGHT inspire by Russian  avant garde painter Vladimir Wassilievic  Sterligov.

The Secret Garden

Another work of mine which was probably inspired by folk tales I loved to read so much in my childhood...dark forest  and hill and a bit of city-palace hidden in the corner..."What nature leaves imperfect is perfected by the art," says an alchemical dictum...
C.G.Jung said-Your vision will become clear only when you look into your heart... Who looks outside, dreams. Who looks inside, awakens.

Dreams about something more

My new painting called Dreams about something more...We all have  dreams and as  C G.Jung said it is very important to be in touch with our unconscious where creativity could be found... Here are some C.G.Jung thoughts about dreams-
The "big" or "meaningful" dreams come from this deeper level. They reveal their significance-quite apart from the subjective impression they make-by their plastic form, which often has a poetic force and beauty. Such dreams occur mostly during the critical phases of life, in early youth, puberty, at the onset of middle age (thirty-six to forty), and within sight of death . .

Abstract with the Dove

Colorful improvisation with the dove-my favorite symbol of freedom, hope and spirit...

The White Church and the Dark Moon tale

This work of mine is about spiritual light which guides us through dark nights of the soul...Marc Chagall said very truthfully :
Will God or someone else give me the strength to breathe the breath of prayer and mourning into my paintings, the breath of prayer for redemption and resurrection?

The City and the Tree

In this painting I wanted to show geometrical order of the city and delicate and poetical  nature-a  white blooming tree...and to show how careful and loving we should be towards nature and each other...
I want to finish with the words of Rumi:
When you do things from your soul you feel a river moving in you,a joy.

Song of Life

This painting is for the celebration of life and beauty  in Nature...It is again-one of my Paradise of Eden Gardens.I can`t stop being fascinated by beauty and variety of God`s creation...

Riding in the Paradise Garden

This work of mine is also about being able to transport yourself to the world of imaginary  childhood  dreams and freedom from tight restrictions of real world.

Childhood dreams

This painting is about childhood ,about hiding from the world inside your own heart, where angels fly free and birds sing songs of  eternal beauty.

There is a garden in every childhood, an enchanted place where colors are brighter, the air softer, and the morning more fragrant than ever again.

Animal paradise

This painting is my homage to one of the my favorite animal painters-Franc Marc. His blue horses in yellow fields, geometry of forms and bright strong colors-like a symphony of nature...My paradise-is always a longing for lost paradise of Eden gardens...

The yellow city

This paintings comes from time of bright colors and strong brush strokes, when I was overwhelmed by Kandinsky .The real place of this painting is in my homeland capital Vilnius ,it is a very sacred one, called AUSROS VARTAI,where miraculous painting of Virgin Mary is kept.

The pond in the magical forest

I like the forest in the middle of  hot summer day, when you find there a deep, refreshing shadows and leaves of the trees trembling in the wind...That comes from the childhood days ,happy times spent in the forest, watching plants and trees, listening to the birds singing...

Abstract composition with a gold circle

Geometry is a symbolic language. We could read in Wikipedia-

The word "circle" derives from the Greek, kirkos "a circle," from the base ker- which means to turn or bend. The origins of the words "circus" and "circuit" are closely related.
The circle has been known since before the beginning of recorded history. Natural circles would have been observed, such as the Moon, Sun, and a short plant stalk blowing in the wind on sand, which forms a circle shape in the sand. The circle is the basis for the wheel, which, with related inventions such as gears, makes much of modern civilization possible. In mathematics, the study of the circle has helped inspire the development of geometry, astronomy, and calculus.
Early science, particularly geometry and astrology and astronomy, was connected to the divine for most medieval scholars, and many believed that there was something intrinsically "divine" or "perfect" that could be found in circles.

Haiku and the Budist monk

I love Japanese haiku poetry...in a few words can be said a lot...
Some  MATSUO BASHO haiku.

I like to wash,
the dust of this world
In the droplets of dew.

Won't you come and see
loneliness? Just one leaf
from the kiri tree.

moonless night...
a powerful wind embraces
the ancient cedars

speaking out
my lips are cold
in autumn wind

a strange flower
for birds and butterflies
the autumn sky

Such a poetry so good in autumn...

And I add one of my graphic works, done very many years ago...

Nostalgia

This painting was born inspired by Andrei Tarkovsky film NOSTALGIA....I felt nostalgic for my own country,language,culture...and I watched this film...how well I could understand Tarkovsky, who emigrated to Italy and felt so drawn back to his native Russian roots...nothing couldn`t give him that energy ,that life, which he left in his homeland.
This is a poem from A.Tarkovsky film STALKER,by Arseny  Tarkovsky, father of the famous film director

Now the summer has passed.
It might never have been.
It is warm in the sun,
But it isn’t enough.

All that might’ve occurred
Like a five-fingered leaf
Fluttered into my hands,
But it isn’t enough.

Neither evil nor good
Has yet vanished in vain,
It all burned and was light,
But it isn’t enough.

Life has been as a shield,
And has offered protection.
I have been most fortunate,
But it isn’t enough.

The leaves were not burned.
The boughs were not broken,
The day clear as glass,
But it isn’t enough.

                    by Arseny Tarkovsky

Blue Garden

My favorite color-blue...and three birds in the corner...Number three also have symbolic meaning.
A quote from http://www.biblestudy.org/bibleref/meaning-of-numbers-in-bible/3.html  says-

All things that are specially complete are stamped with this number three.
God's attributes are three: omniscience, omnipresence, and omnipotence.
There are three great divisions completing time--past, present, and future.
Three persons, in grammar, express and include all the relationships of mankind.
Thought, word, and deed, complete the sum of human capability.
Three degrees of comparison complete our knowledge of qualities.
The simplest proposition requires three things to complete it; viz., the subject, the predicate, and the copula.
Three propositions are necessary to complete the simplest form of argument--the major premiss, the minor, and the conclusion.
Three kingdoms embrace our ideas of matter--mineral, vegetable, and animal.

Mystical city

Here is my  not so new painting called MYSTICAL CITY..we all have a whole world in our hearts...And we have just to be brave enough to wake that world inside us to be ready to show it into reality .Spiritual world and real ,material world are not so far away...sometimes these two worlds come close to each other and blend one into another. Our inner world goes out and the new artwork has been born.

PLAYING WITH DIGITAL...

The quick way of making some art-is to play with Photoshop...Here are some of my sketches with Photoshop...

Abstract composition

Here I have  an abstract composition of bright colors and round shapes...It is like a meadow with flowers and plants ,a symphony of nature life...Again,W.Kandinsky talked about abstract art with words of deep understanding-
Of all  the arts ,abstract paintings is most difficult. It demands that you know how to draw well, that you have a heightened sensitivity for composition and for colors and that you be a true poet. This last is essential.

Paradise garden

My recent work is about imaginary landscape, world of unearthly beauty and freedom. In my PARADISE GARDEN animals are free and colors are an expression of  spiritual side of things.Blue color-is the color of the  high sky and deep oceans and seas...color of the violets and forget-me-nots...I can`t say better about mystery of creating art as W.Kandinsky once said  -
The true work of art  is born from the artist -a mysterious, enigmatic and mystical creation. It detaches himself from him,it acquires  an autonomous life, becomes a personality,an independent subject, animated with a spiritual breath, the living subject of a real existence of being.
